Money Game for Kids – Teaches The Value Of Money, Literally
Make Change is an iPad app than can help children with autism learn the base values of different coins and assist them with simple addition. Money and kids can live in harmony with this fun app!
When the app is first opened, there are four coins shown at the top of the screen – a penny, a nickel, a dime, and a quarter. These coins are all facing upwards, but will flip over and show their tail-side if tapped. In the bottom right half of the screen, an amount is displayed in this cool money game for kids.
Have your child drag the correct coins over onto the bottom portion of the app’s interface in order to make the required amount of change. Remember to tell your child that the tally, or how much money is already being counted, is displayed at the top.
For example, if I was trying to put together eight cents, and I had moved a nickel into the counting area, the top border of the app would say, “$.05.”
MakeChange Settings and Miscellaneous
In the top right corner of this iPad app you will find a gear icon. Click it to open up the settings for MakeChange. Here, you can alter the difficulty level, sound, background, and toggle the “show tally” feature.
I recommend altering the difficulty to fit your child’s needs. Some children on the spectrum are surprisingly good at math, and will require the amount to be set at “up to $5.00.” (Even this may be easy for some children, but even those kids will enjoy the app.) Other children who have a tough time with numbers will need the app set to “under $.50″ in order to enjoy and benefit from this money game for kids.
Money Game for Kids is Customizable
Because of its ability to be customized to your child’s needs, MakeChange is a great way for kids and money to develop a fun working relationship! Add this to your list of iPad numbers apps.
