About API’s Fundraising Efforts

Autism Plugged In Fundraiser

Autism Plugged In is conducting a Phoneraiser fundraiser to benefit the Organization for Autism Research (OAR), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Be sure to read my earlier post where you can learn about the great work that OAR does for our friends.

I am asking friends, family, schools, and local businesses to participate by collecting used cell phones and empty ink cartridges, and to spread the word about the benefits of donating.  There are several reasons why I think everyone will want to get involved:

  • Everyone who donates used phones will be giving old technology new life and keeping it from polluting our landfills.  Just one cell phone contains enough toxic materials to pollute up to 35,000 gallons of drinking water!

  • 100% of the proceeds from unwanted cell phones will help fund autism research.

Old phones donated through this effort are either recycled or refurbished, making unused technology available to those who can use it, while keeping it out of the landfill.

How Can You Help?

Loyal Autism Plugged In Blog Readers may be wondering … “How can I help?”  Well, unless you live in close proximity to me … slim chance, right? … it will be very difficult for you to donate your used phones.  But you can still help by donating to the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) using the donate widget (provided by Network for Good) on the right sidebar of this blog.

The minimum donation is only $10!  Every penny goes straight to OAR – and you will be able to print a tax deductible receipt for your donation.

Say, “YES! I want to make a difference!” – and donate today!

I greatly appreciate your support!

Who’s Behind Autism Plugged In?

Who’s Behind Autism Plugged In?

My name is Jack Kieffer and I'm a blogger sharing my love of technology at blogs like Cool Gizmo Toys, Greenamajigger, and here at Autism Plugged In where I'm trying to make a difference in the lives of children with autism.

Several years ago, I began volunteering with special needs kids, who gave me much joy and an appreciation for life. This blog is my way of giving back. Any proceeds from this effort are used to support my friends with autism. Read more about Jack or connect with him on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
