Kids Can Practice “Where” Questions

As Turkey Day rolls around, we’re happy to offer a Giveaway of this fun holiday app from Visuals Work.

Lorrie Ann Harrington, a mom of a child on the autism spectrum, designed this cute Thanksgiving book app to help her son learn new vocabulary, language, and social skills.  In addition to helping kid practice their “where” questions, the app also presents the ideas of punctuation and gender-based pronouns.

Customize: Put Your Child in the Story!

Thanksgiving Autism book App 1

What makes this app unique? Parents can upload a picture of their child and insert them into the story!  Grab a favorite photo of your child from your camera roll and insert them into the story.  Don’t have a recent photo?  No problem, just take a picture with your iPad!  It’s easy to upload a recent picture and use it in this storybook app.

Seeing themselves inside of a storybook app can keep kids engaged and help them to relate to the story as it unfolds.

Read-It-To-Me Feature

By tapping sentences within the Thanksgiving book app, kids can listen to the story being read to them.  Of course, parents may also want to share in the fun by reading to their children a few times during this holiday season.

Holy cow, am I doing this right?! My nonverbal son is in 2nd grade and still learning to eat. His favorite Thanksgiving food (I’m guessing) is yams purred with almond milk, with a touch of cinnamon!
